Gigagolf C9 c455 Metal Woods

(as alternative to the Ping® Rapture Fairway Woods)

Manufacturer: Giga Golf

Model: Gigagolf C9 c455 Metal Woods

Compares to: Ping® Rapture Fairway Woods

Manufacturer's Description Details: Stand out performance describes the results you should expect from all products in the C9 series. The c455 Metal wood is no exception. The ball literally explodes off the c455 forged variable face thickness design. Carpenter Technology Corporation, the world renowned steel manufacturer patented its proprietary c455 stainless alloy to be strong and durable. This allows the face to be forged thinner that traditional stainless metals, the result is more ball velocity and longer golf shots.

Our Review:

The use of the premium steel alloy called c455 (made by Carpenter Technology) gives the club a few distinct advantages:

  • Since c455 steel is so much stronger than regular stainless steel the clubhead can be build bigger. This is great news for golfers who have trouble hitting a driver as they can now tee off with a large sized 3 wood. This way they gain more accuracy while compromising little on distance.

  • The c455 club face makes the ball 'explode' upon impact. Combined with the bigger sized head the gain in distance is remarkable.

  • Some players have problems hitting a fairway shot fat (hitting the ground behind the ball before hitting the ball itself). The large sole of this club reduces the 'digging-in' effect, which helps a lot to get a cleaner shot.

Taken together this is a great club for beginners and intermediates alike. Priced at just $49 this is a clear 'two thumbs up'.

Likes: Great playability; can substitute for a driver due to its size. Great value for money!

Dislikes: Not available in LH.
