GigaGolf GX Squared Ti Draw Driver

(as alternative to the Callaway® FT-i Draw Driver)

GigaGolf GX Squared Ti Draw Driver as alternative to the Callaway® FT-i Draw Driver

Manufacturer: GigaGolf

Model: GigaGolf GX Squared Ti Draw Driver

Compares to: Callaway® FT-i

Our Review: We have reviewed the 'neutral' version of the GX Squared Ti Driver previously on this website, but we think the draw version has several features that warrant a closer look at this new model. The GX Squared Ti Draw Driver is designed after the Callaway FT-i Draw Driver, featuring a square shape design that increases both horizontal and vertical stability. This, in turn, results in a very high Moment of Inertia (MOI, reduced 'twisting' at impact), thus assuring a long and accurate shot.

What makes this club special is that it comes with a built-in draw bias. This is a great feature if you, like many other golfers, have a tendency to fade or even slice the ball. The reason for a fade / slice is that the club face is not exactly square to the target line at the moment you hit the golf ball but a bit open. This open face angle causes the golf ball to slide/roll across the club face, thereby imparting some spin on it. This spin makes the ball fly in a more or less severe curve to the right (for RH players), resulting in a fade or slice. To compensate for the open club face the GigaGolf GX Squared Ti Draw Driver has a small discretionary weight chip at the heel of the club that helps you to automatically close the club face upon impact with the ball, which effectively cancels out a fade and reduces a slice. Very simple but very effective, especially if you don't want to mess with individual weight screws.

The biggest benefit we found in this club was that players who tend to fade the ball were usually holding back their swing out of fear to slice even worse. With this draw biased driver they are able to hit with full power and confidence because they can trust this club. This increase in confidence is, in our opinion, the biggest advantage of this club. Longer distance and straighter shots are simply the results of this.

Likes: The GX Squared Ti Draw Driver combines the superb forgiveness of a square driver with the simple technology to reduce a fade or slice. Great value for money, and even comes in a version for lefties!

Dislikes: There's nothing we didn't like.

Based on your review I purchased the 12 degree driver, but I was a bit worried about what I will get for less than $100. I was pleasantly surprised, this is a great club, well put together. Wonder how they can sell a club like this for less than 100 bucks and still survive. Anyways, this driver has added easily 20 or 25 yards to my drive, and I hit a lot more fairways. I'll get one for my wife, too. Maybe then she will play a bit more often. Thanks again,

I used to slice quite a bit (well, I still do sometimes...) and this draw driver has helped a lot. It's not a wonder weapon, but it has given me a lot more confidence by finding the fairway more often. I'm happy, and I can recommend this driver to duffers like me.
